All about EMK
EMK stands for Extending Meager Knowledge of Letters and Words. It is done near the beginning of the school day after all of the letters and sounds have been taught; usually starting in October. The students are divided into four groups and visit four stations for about five minutes. Two stations are independent and focus on a math concept and a literacy concept. One station is led by the teacher and during this time the students do interactive writing. The last station is the EMK part of rotations and is conducted by a parent.
